RESPECT Song

We are on assembly this week and our school value is RESPECT.  Room 5 is going to sing this song about respect.  Follow the link below to listen to the song and practise at home.  Here are the words...

RESPECT

Respect yourself by working hard and doing what’s right
Being honest with yourself and telling the truth

Respect yourself
Respect others
Respect the school
That is just what we do

Respecting others by taking turns and sharing our things
Treating others with love and altogether we’ll sing

Respect yourself
Respect others
Respect the school
That is just what we do

Respect the school by cleaning up and walking in a straight line
Staying quiet in the hall, Getting work in on time

Respect yourself
Respect others
Respect the school
That is just what we do

Athletics

As we start to prepare for athletics - here are a few tips to practise at home.

Shot put  - Tuck the shot put into the nape of your neck with your palm facing up - lean back on your back leg.  Point to where you want to throw and push.

High jump - remember to stand on the correct side.  Run up and alongside the bar.  Straight legged scissor jump over the bar.

Toe up to the line.  Get ready to run your fastest. Look straight ahead (not at the others in the race)

Discus - Stand side on with your legs shoulder width apart.  Point your arm to where you want to throw the discus.  Keep your throwing arm straight and bend your back leg.   You can use the duck grip if your hand does not fit over the discus.  Three big swings backwards while bending your back leg and throw!  Follow through your throw with your arm each time.

Hurdles - Run fast and jump by swinging legs to the side as you go over the hurdles.  If you knock one over - keep going!

Long Jump - The faster you run - the further you will jump!  Try and launch off one foot as far down the mat as possible - as you jump throw both arms forward to the level of your shoulders and land on two feet.

Discovery Stars *****

Our new initiative this term is introducing 'Discovery Stars'.  A Medal is given out by  each year 1 teacher and go to those students who are displaying the focus school value for the week - no surprises that last weeks value was fun and room 5 scooped three medals !!!!  (of course) It was also not much of a surprise that they went to these 3 monkeys.  We love to have fun in Room 5.  Keep it up.

Congratulations to Sophie and Mia who received certificates at assembly last week.  Sophie for including 'wow' words in her writing and editing her own work by adding more exciting language and Mia for being so inclusive and kind.  Well done girls.
