Reading Awards

Here are some more wonderful readers!

Olden Day Games

We have been learning old fashioned games in Room 5 like hopscotch, elastics, marbles, tiddly winks and knuckle bones.  Here is Emily learning how to play hopscotch.  I have made some elastics for the children to use at morning tea and lunch.

Poetry Competition Winner!!!!!!

All the finalists did a fantastic job today of reciting their poems in front of a large crowd in the hall.  I was so proud of both Bella and Coll for being so confident and using a clear loud voice with lots of expression and gestures.  A super big congratulations to Coll who came 1st overall in the year 1 category with his poem 'I eat'. As his prize he received a book called Back to front Bob which is all about cool words like Palindromes. Today we wrote our names backwards to see if they were palindromes and also learnt new words like bombastic and supercalafragilisticexpealadocious.

Poetry Competition

Well done to all the children yesterday in the poetry competition.  You all spoke with clear voices, made eye contact with the audience and used gestures or props to enhance your poem.  I was so proud of all your efforts in learning the words off by heart.
It was a very difficult decision for Mrs Bartram to choose the winners.  A big congratulations to Bella and Coll who will go through to the Junior finals in the hall on Thursday morning.

Poetry Competition

Just a reminder that our class poetry competition is coming up - Monday the 18th at 9am.  You are welcome to come and watch, however you must be sensitive to the fact that having a large audience might be very off putting for some children.  Three finalists will be selected by a judge and two will go on to compete in the junior competition in the hall.  Keep practising and focusing on expression and voice projection.
