Our First Achievement Certificates

Congratulations to Coll and Mia for receiving certificates at assembly.  Coll and Mia have shown excellent leadership skills and have been making great choices with their learning and behaviour in class.  I love your attitude and perseverance.  Well done!

 

Fantastic Room 5

Ahoy me Hearties!

Following on with our focus on the letter P - Today we made Pirate Patches.  We scared a lot of children in the playground and got to stand on stage and clap the pirate song for Pegleg.

Buddy Reading

During reading time children can choose browser books from their boxes or large books from the library to read to themselves or a buddy.  They can use the pointers if they wish to follow the words. This is Lily and Bella reading to each other today. I love the way you are pointing to the word Bella.  Ka Pai! 

P is for Popcorn, Pikelets and Pigs

Today in Room 5 we looked at the letter 'P'.  We made popcorn and pikelets and pretty pink pigs.  We have to remember to hold our finger up like a candle and \p\p\.... puff it out!  First we pretended we were making popcorn with a big colourful parachute.  We sang the popcorn song while sizzling the corn in our chute ..... then popped them out!  They went all over the room.  Then we made popcorn in a machine.  We counted up to 50 waiting for the popcorn to pop.  It was fun watching it pop, especially when it popped out all over the carpet. We had a big morning tea eating things that begun with 'P'.  What other food can you think of that start with P?

Our Learning

Reading
This week we are learning to point to each word as it is said. When the word doesn't match we go back to the beginning of the line and make it match.
Words that are in the text are I  we  the  to  is  am  are.

Writing
This week we are learning to write an I am ... story.
Our goals for learning are

• Draw a picture about myself
• Write the words I and am
• Tell Mrs Craig what the story is about.

Numeracy

This week we are learning to count forward and backwards up to 10.

We are learning to write the numerals.

We are learning to count the objects and match a numeral to them

We are learning to write the numerals 1,2, and 3
