St John Safe Kids

Today a St Johns Paramedic came to talk to us about what they do in their job.  We learnt about the ambulance and all the equipment.  We learnt what to do if there is an emergency. The ambulance has flashing lights and 3 different sirens and a loud horn.  If we see the lights or hear the sirens we need to remember to pull over on the side of the road and get out of the way.

We looked at some pictures of emergencies and had to decide which service we needed - Fire, Police or Ambulance.
We need to remember all the rules such as - no talking on the cellphone, no drinking and driving, no stealing other peoples things, no drinking or eating things if we don't know what they are because it might be poison.

We practised phoning the emergency number and saying what service we needed.  We need to know our name, address and phone number.  If your child does not know their address and phone number, I suggest they learn it at home as we will be practising this again in class.

We learnt a lot about St John.
