The Very Hungry Caterpillar
To celebrate the 45th birthday of the hungry caterpillar we made books and caterpillars. It was tricky colouring in all the food and cutting it out and then finding the words to match on each page. It took a long time to finish!

Joe modelling how to do really great story writing
The children in Room 5 are self reviewing their work against our criteria after each writing session. They award themselves stickers as we work through the aims identified each day on the board. Fantastic example Joe!
When we focus on a letter children are encouraged to bring in or draw\cut and paste things they can find at home which start with that letter. U was a tricky letter - but not too hard for Room 5 - we had unicorns, universe and umbrella ..... and we made undies! Come in and look at them hanging on our washing line! Keep bringing in your letter related objects - we love you sharing them with us.

Purrfect visitors in Room 5
On Tuesday Miss Hansen brought in her five 5-week old kittens to share with the class. After the visit from a strange dog I thought it was a good opportunity to have some positive pet experiences! Nicholas got to share the kittens around the school on a trolley with Mrs Tui and Jeannie. It was fun to have visitors in Room 5. Two kittens are going to live at Jeannie's house and one is going to Mrs Pelham house!
